Background & General aims of Booster Cushion Theatre for Children Booster Cushion Theatre for Children was formed specifically to make primary school productions that encourage children to take more interest in books. BCT makes children’s entertainment that is enjoyable and rewarding. We are the alternative to traditional children’s entertainers making shows for children using an imaginative and comical retelling approach to traditional stories. BCT’s solo performer works similar to a children’ entertainer or kids entertainer but in a theatrical form, often presenting kids theatre to children for their first time. As such children’s theatre is so important that the whole experience has to be fun and surprising for the children. Booster Cushion Theatre for Children wants the children to come back again and again to see kids theatre. Hence participation has a tremendous role in clearly showing all adults, teachers, librarians, parents, arts officers, children's programmers, child minds and child careers that the show is working. Equally laugh out loud comedy gives a very clear indication that a theatre show is hitting the spot for its young audience and then the silence of concentration tells yet again. This all leads to the theatre experience being positive and something that should be seen again by every young person. Eventually after many positive visits to the theatre and successful visits to their school, youth club, art centre, local library, park and adventure play ground the young children will grow to look out for and attend theatre productions and shows on their own account.

Booster Cushion Theatre Company produces theatre for children’s entertainment and specialises in theatre in education using Big Books that come to life. Booster Cushion Theatre for Children offers an alternative to children’s entertainers in London and all over the UK.

Booster’s shows for children are often seen as theatre in art centres, primary school productions, traditional theatres, libraries, sport centres, museums, festivals, children’s centres, parks, hospitals, children's parties and even Zoos.

Booster Cushion Theatre for Children was formed in 1989, specifically to work with children and to encourage them to take greater interest in books. Since then Booster Cushion Theatre has performed to over 300,000 people in schools and theatres all over the country providing quality work with care and commitment.

All of Booster Cushion Theatre for Children shows are solos using mime, voice and some sign language. Each is completely portable and can be performed inside or out, the technical requirements being minimal. We just need a performance space of 4m x 4m x 3.5m.
